Unscheduled brownout in Cagayan de Oro | Scramble! 10 HOURS BROWNOUT!

March 4, 2010 another “unscheduled” brownout plunged part of CDO, specifically Patag area up to Bulua, in darkness. The brownout lasted 4 hours starting 6pm ending approximately 10:30 pm. What’s the use of the rotating brown out schedules posted by CEPALCO? I had already patterned the rotating brown out schedule to my schedule when they (CEPALCO) first posted the March 2-9, 2010 of every other day brownouts. They suddenly recanted and made the March 5-10, 2010 DAILY BROWNOUTS SCHEDULE. Ok that was announced in their website. Daily it is then, yet March 4, 2010, an unscheduled brownout in Patag area caused a lot of inconveniences.

CEPALCO should have been a bit more empathic and canceled the March 5, 8am-1pm brownout for Patag area but no, CEPALCO said they have to “FOLLOW THE ROTATING BROWNOUT SCHEDULE”, bunch of hypocrites. Right now there is a rumored March 5, 2010 unscheduled brownout 6pm to 10pm again. Then that makes the brownouts nearly 10 hours long EVERYDAY! There are only average of 8 working hours a day so companies are just going to accept a 10 hour brownout??? Never mind the company losses and expenses, people’s LIVELIHOOD are at stake!

Here’s a solution. Stop giving huge salaries to execs of  National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or CEPALCO or whatever power company out there and INVEST IN NEW POWER PLANTS. If they want to curtail the power and reduce expenses then they should be the ones sacrificing to give service, that WE’RE PAYING FOR DIRECTLY through our bills and INDIRECTLY through our TAXES! To power and light companies, the power grid are your report card, power outages and you fail, no excuses. Your services are poor. Period.
