It then became a blog against what I think is the cause of today’s problems, the Oligarchs that ruined the Philippines. I was born in 1985 so I never knew what it was like during the Marcos regime. To be fair, I read the books, the news. However my parents told me differently, even my relatives who lived in Mindanao were surprised of the “EDSA” that occurred in 1986.

It is ironic, what happened to the Philippines in 1986 is happening in most Middle East countries. The “supposed” democracy of the people.

Back to this blog, it’s 1 am and I still have work in a couple of hours. However I’ll be making a post soon.

This post is not a retraction of my apology, I’m a man of my word (or blog), I meant every word I wrote. However I am compelled to post again as I see the gross ineptitude of this administration.

It didn’t seem right to see someone who had the track record he has in Congress and Senate, running for President and winning by the coat tails of his (RIP) father Benigno Aquino and shadow of Former President Corazon Aquino.

Approximately 1 year has passed since he took oath as the 15th president of the Philippines, I’m seeing him in a different light. Don’t get me wrong, the apology isn’t because I was wrong. But more likely I pity him in a kind way. I see someone who I think never really did anything wrong as he never did anything much right. I see someone who never really cared for his lineage as much as never did care about his image. However, I saw someone with potential.

Here comes the pity part. It’s unfortunate, President Noynoy Aquino is surrounded MOSTLY by animals. Somehow, I see him maneuvering through a jungle full of crocodiles who want his whole arm, monkeys who take up his time and twit birds who do nothing but publicize his shortcomings. So I gained some sort of respect for him, with that kind of political environment in Malacanang Palace, I expected a very short Presidency marred with Coup de Tats (the same with his mother), brown outs and more. I tip my hat to you Mr. President (though you may need a hat soon enough), you’re wading through predatory waters and you aren’t devoured yet.

Still, may I remind you of your promises or your “pact” with the people, approximately 15 million people who voted for you. President Noynoy Aquino scandals aren’t because you are dating a new woman or something. Heck, please tell your PR to abandon sensationalizing your private life. Instead, focus on the legacy you inherited or whatever is left of it anyway.

Remember, I, along with the rest of the Philippines, am watching you.

MANILA, Philippines—In his “Report sa Boss” marking his first 100 days in office, P-Noy was not shy about giving his administration very high marks on the economy, on the alleviation of poverty in all its dimensions, and on governance. All accomplishments, no acknowledgement of any we-may-have-been-wrong, or maybe-we-could-have-done-better. The only failure he actually acknowledged was that it is not in his nature (kaugalian) to trumpet his triumphs. Did he mean he wasn’t boasting when he gave that long list of accomplishments? Well, he could have fooled me.

A reality check, however, does reveal a mixed bag of solid accomplishments, exaggerations and downright baseless claims. Let’s take a closer look at his report.

Claim 1: We now have a government that can be talked to, that tells the truth and that listens.

Reality check (RC): True and false. He certainly listened to the people’s desire for family planning information and services, so he gets a thumbs up for that. But he hasn’t released to us the full report on the hostage crisis, and neither has he told us what he will do with it, so that’s a thumbs down.

Claim 2: Confidence in our country has been regained, our economy is getting stronger.

RC: The strong economic growth was not a product of his administration; there is no basis as yet until the end of November, when GDP estimates for the third quarter are released.

Claim 3: We are closely scrutinizing our expenditures. No peso is wasted, to wit: (a) Executive Order No. 7 which suspends bonuses and allowances of government corporations; (b) the Naia 3 contract, where government (through retired Supreme Court Justice Florentino Feliciano and current Justice Lourdes Sereno) won the cases filed against it by Fraport of Germany; (c) DPWH negotiated contracts that were suspended and rebidded; (d) suspending the Laguna de Bay dredging and deepening project (where do we put the silt? he asked).

RC: (a) suspending allowances and bonuses is great, but appointing managers and directors for what they know rather than who they know is even better, so why was Macra Cruz of MWSS retained and promoted to acting administrator when she was part of the problem? (b) the Naia 3 case was fought before P-Noy’s time, the decision was handed down only during his time; he had nothing to do with it; (c) Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson is doing a good job; thumbs up on the rebidding requirements; (d) the Laguna Lake project was thoroughly studied, it is a foreign-assisted project, it is on the up-and-up (no hint of corruption), it has been vetted by P-Noy’s own justice secretary, there is absolutely no problem about what to do with the dredged silt. Was P-Noy misled here?

Claim 4: Weather forecasting has improved, the equipment lack has been addressed. He has fixed in 100 days what could not be done in 3,448 by his predecessor.

RC: Equipment does not appear out of thin air, it must have been ordered earlier; the weather forecasting may have improved, but it must be noted that it hasn’t been really tested since Typhoon “Basyang.” But P-Noy should also explain why Prisco Nilo was summarily removed from Pagasa (no “due process” there) for his forecasting mistake, while Rico Puno is retained even as not only his competence has been called into question, but his integrity as well—and not by opposition groups but by his own committee and by an archbishop (unless Oscar Cruz is considered a political enemy).

Claim 5: He has focused on education, health and poverty reduction, using the funds saved through more efficient use.

RC: He must be given full marks for this—his budget does reflect base priorities on the whole. The reductions in agriculture and family planning budgets, he claims, are removal of fat and waste—and should be taken at face value, unless otherwise shown. Agrarian reform is clearly short of money for support services.

Claim 6: More than $2 billion of investments are coming in from foreign investors; we have set up a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) Center; the strength of the peso is recognized in the international market; the PSE index is at an all-time high; the Millennium Challenge Fund grant, which the previous administration had been trying twice to qualify for, has been awarded to us.

RC: As I have earlier pointed out, $1 billion for power generation of those funds is not new—it was announced in 2007; the PPP Center is the BOT Center renamed; the inflow of portfolio investments is not necessarily because the Philippine economy is strong, but because the developed economies are weak; the Millennium Development grant would have been awarded to the Philippines whether it was Aquino or another candidate who won.

Claim 7: If we have shown any failing, it is in the fact that it is not in our nature to boast about our triumphs.

RC: Really? (didn’t he just BOASTED a lot?)

Bottom line: All things considered, the Aquino administration can be given a passing mark; it does not need to exaggerate its accomplishments or try to gloss over (or ignore) its failures. Neither should it continue trying to use Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as a scapegoat—that tact is wearing thin. Finally, it should stop accusing anyone who finds fault with it as merely wanting to revive the old order.

P-Noy got high satisfaction ratings—that is the nature of the beast. All his predecessors got high ratings at the beginning of their term. That is the people’s way of encouraging them. His challenge is to make sure he lives up to those expectations and continues to be true to his constituents.

Riley tries to mingle with the other guys on the football team. Some heckling occurs of course and usually tough punks make fun of the Gs. Geeks Girls and Gays in particular the last one, members of the football team have been dishing out a lot of “harmless” homo jokes which have started to seriously affect Zane. Riley is seen trying to finally decide what he really wants. On the other hand Eli and Clare’s relationship spikes up like their adolescent hormones do but Clare finds out about a weird secret of Eli that scares her estrogen levels down.

In Degrassi Still Fighting it 2 again some minor spoiler alerts.

Riley finally gets back with Zane after the insensitive homophobic comments reached an all time high with his football mates. It isn’t clear yet though if he did make up out of pity or out of love. And speaking of love, Clare is confused about Eli. She thinks what Eli is hiding is affecting their love for each other. Clare goes detective bent on uncovering that mysterious aspect of Eli.

One thing that spoils the two Degrassi episodes though, where is Luke Bilyk in the story plot? They’d better get him back soon like now and this post gives me an excuse to post pictures of Luke Bilyk.

It positively hurts  to see an iPhone 4 being treated that way. Cellphones aren’t made to be needlessly or even accidentally dropped. As seen the iPhone4 withstood a couple of drops before cracking. Laptops are bigger but dropping them is out of the question. Same with small devices.

I expect iPhones shattering will be a small speck against the multitude of features and appeal to buyers.

FVR’s Statement

Former President Fidel Ramos on Thursday advised President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III not to dwell so much on his victory in the May polls, and to start working towards a “harmonious” government.

“We should not over-celebrate. There is much work to be done,” Ramos said at a press conference at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.

Aquino should start “healing the wounds” caused by the recent elections, the former president added.

“The first burden of the government is to heal the wounds and get everybody together, including the opponents and the non-believers,” he said.

Ramos, who is set to attend an international meeting of educators in Japan, said Aquino should go beyond political colors and allegiances to attain a “peaceful, harmonious and joyful” six years in Malacanang.

“Isama mo lahat. Kupkupin mo lahat pati ‘yung lumaban sa iyo. (Include everyone. Take them all in, including those you opposed you.) Prove to them that you’re on the right track,” he told the incoming president.

“Nobody should be left out of the benefit of development, even if they are your oppositors,” he added.

He also said Aquino can create bodies to tackle political reconciliation during his first days in office — similar to what he did when he succeeded Aquino’s mother, former President Corazon Aquino, in 1992. Mrs. Aquino supported Ramos’ presidential bid.

Ramos, who served as Mrs. Aquino’s Armed Forces chief-of-staff and defense secretary, advised the young Aquino to pay particular attention to separatist groups in Mindanao, as well as the New People’s Army.

President-elect Aquino is set to replace outgoing President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as the country’s chief executive on June 30. — RJAB Jr./LBG,GMANews.TV

Noynoy should remember that his mother always gave UNSOLICITED ADVICE to former presidents FVR, Erap and GMA.

He also said the he was not sure if he would want to open the car door of PGMA (referring to a tradition of riding with the former president on his inauguration day)
